This is my first post on Lovelyish (well technically second). This blog is going to be all about natural skin care and beauty. I'll have tips, tricks, and techniques that you'll be able to use in your every day life that will leave you looking and feeling radiant.
I don't know about you, but I need to have my morning coffee. I am absolutely addicted to it and don't feel like my day is complete unless I have at least one cup. While the International Journal of Cancer and Familial Breast Cancer Research Unit of The Centre of Research for Women agree that drinking lots of coffee (and yes I mean lots, 3-6 cups a day!) reduces your risk of breast cancer; it also leaves nasty stains behind.
I don't really want to wake up, look in the mirror and see teeth that look like I put cheese in my mouth. I got sick of the nasty yellow color and apparently so did my husband, because he bought me some teeth whitening mouthwash! After a few uses of the mouthwash my teeth were significantly whiter, however my mouth was swelling up, glands became incredibly sore to the touch and I couldn't eat for 2 whole days. It turns out there is fake sugar (saccharine) in it. I am allergic to aspartame, saccharine, and pretty much any other type of fake sugar, it makes my mouth and glands swell up - and for good reason, they aren't good for you!
I looked at the other ingredients on my whitening strips and in the mouthwashes, and it turns out there's 1 common ingredient - Hydrogen Peroxide. How simple is that? So I did some research and found that Hydrogen Peroxide -due to its unique combination of hydrogen and oxygen - does a deep cleaning of the teeth and has a whitening effect. So here is a simple teeth whitening mixture for you, that you may already have at home! (Or if not, it should be under $15 as your local store! Teeth whitening strips cost between $19 - $95!)
You'll have to play around with the portion sizes to get the right mixture
All you need to do is mix hydrogen peroxide with baking soda to form a thick paste and brush your teeth as you would a tooth paste. If you want a nice flavor add 1-2 drops of Peppermint Essential oil and 1-2 drops of liquid Stevia to get that fresh minty flavor. That's it! Simple isn't it?
Now you can enjoy the benefits of white teeth without all the harsh chemicals and fake sugar substitutes!
